I don't know, I didn't test yet DVD < 4 Go but me I don't arrive at reading DVD-RW!!! However Dvd-r are read without problems but not the dvd-rw I tested with Verbatim & Pioneer DVD-RW without success....
However I have the last firmware version 7.26 and other users arrives at reading the dvd-rw with DVD711, I don't understand....
People succeeded in circumventing the limitation of the 4 GO but I do not know how

I have a Philips 711 and I do not have such a problem. It plays DVD less than 4GB no problem. This is on both the DVD+R and DVD+RW and even certain DVD-R.

    Firmware 7.22.

Perhaps it is the method rather than the player??!!.

    Hi,

If you note that I stated DVD + R reads no problem. It makes up its own mind if it will play the minus format. Philips have confirmed that it wont play the minus format.

My burner is the PLUS format Philips 228 so all my disks are in PLUS format.

yes I took the information from Philips in the first place.

However, the main test, despite what others might say, is what WORKS ON MINE, tested by me.

    DVD+R - All work.
    DVD+RW - All work
    DVD-R - Some work - very picky
    DVD-RW - Never tried them.

MINUS format disks made using DVD2ONE and the COPYTODVD program work on the 711.
