I picked up a video capture card the other day for next to nothing..
This one to be precise:

http://www.prolink.com.tw/2003/english/products/multimedia/playtv%20dvr%20tv.htm

Plugged a S-VHS cable into the output on the cable tv decoder box, then
plugged the other end into the capture card. Did the same with the audio
cables into the line input on my soundcard...as per the instruction setup
manual.
It installed no problems..(drivers etc) and is working great at showing
whats on cable tv.

I upgraded to directx9a etc and ive been trying out some shareware/freeware
programs like:

Cyberlink's PowerVCR II Deluxe.
Intervideo's WinDVR 3.0
and a few others which are freeware full versions, sourceforge etc.
And configured them to S-VHS.

They all work fine at showing whats on cable, and sound is good too, but as soon i click 'record', on either of the digital VCR's
(free or shareware versions), the screen goes static like when youve fallen alseep one night and left the tv still going at 4am in the morning...

Its not a shareware limitation problem or the full free versions would
work.

I then have to switch back through composite, tv, to svhs again to get the picture back in S-VHS..

They only record static!

What have i missed/forgotten?
Everything else works perfect!
