    I would like to make a short 4 or 5 sec intro to put in the begining of my dvd's. Just something along the lines of some animated text and mabey a still image or something. Can anyone suggest a program with which i could create a short video.

    Any video editor should be able to handle that for you. Just output the finished video to MPG-2 and put it before the main menu or video you want in the DVD authoring app you are using.
    Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........
