  1. Hi! Need your advise on burning data CD problems. I am able to author/burn VCDs and MusicCDs and MP3 using ROXIO and NERO (I have both currently installed. But when backing up my data by creating a Data-CD, the burning is successful but I cannot access or see the files from the CD using windows explorer. I tried both NERO and ROXIO and it has the same results. When I tried opening the CD in NERO, it was able to show the files, but it says that the SESSION IS OPEN. I already tried closing the SESSION in NERO and NERO says successful, but when I remove the CD and insert again, it will still show SESSION is OPEN, and I still cannot browse the CD using explorer.

Hope somebody can help what setting I need to do or undo.
    Thanks for your time![/b]

When you launch Nero, it prompts you for the recording options you want. The first screen has three options, with the the third being multi-session disk. This is the one selected by default, which is irritating.

    Select the first option.

If you are doing so, then once you select to burn the disk, the dialog has check boxes with the last one being "Finalize disk". This one should be checked as well.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

  3. Hi! Thanks for the reply.
But I already tried this, 'no multisession', and 'finalize disk' in NERO options. But after burning, it still says that the SESSION is OPEN.

Any other NERO or WIN-XP options I need to check?
    Thanks.

Which version of Nero are you using? (Help->About). Also, when Nero starts and presents the new compilation options, are you using the top one, CD-ROM?

Other things that come to mind are, is the disk a RW formated under XP as a data disk? Suppose not, but just checking.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

  5. have you tried using nero's wizard??? whichever settings it uses for DATA CDs worked for me...

keep in mind if you finalize the CD, you won't be able to add anymore data to it...so, if you're planning to add more files later, you can't finalize the disc.....
