  1. I have Panasonic HT65 DVD player. I have weired problem. My all original dvd works just fine. Everytime I burn DVD on either DVD_r or RW and put in my DVD player, some time it read it and start dvd some time just getting error "NO DISK" After this error it I open the door and close it next time it might read it. Once it read it it play nice. This is a 5 DVD changer and I have tried on each of them and same thing happen.
If some one have see this issue on similer or other dvd player please let me know.-B

PS: Is there any way I can upgrade my firmware on Panasonic DVD player? Thanks

  2. It sounds like a media compatibility problem - my Sony player works with some discs, some of the time, and then they take loading several times. It's probably the pickup having trouble focusing. Either the disc isn't reflective enough at the wavelength the optics are tuned for, or the quality of the burn isn't brilliant and it's having trouble determining the difference between the burnt equivalent of a pit and a land.

Try a different manufacturer and see what happens. A disc that is compatible with your player will play first time, every time. Sometimes you just need to experiment to find one your player likes.

I don't have the same player as you, but I do have similar problems - look for other posts by me because I have quoted which ones work for me and my picky player. Some might work well for you too.

On my Panasonic A360 the Princo's 2x get recognised very badly, but the Princo's 4x give no problems at startup.

Media compatibility seems to be only with the cheaper brands.
I never had problems with -R from Pioneer, Sony, Verbatim, unfortunately they cost 2-3x as much.

At the moment, the Sentinel -R 4x (OptoDisc) are my favorites.

As for RW's, I also noticed that it recognizes -RW easier than +RW.

Once you've found a good brand/type of discs for you player, buy a lot or smth
    Sony DRU-500A v1.0d
    Toshiba SD-M1302 v1006
    Philips DVDR885P v1.7/8

  5. hey,

dvd media compatibility is really dependent on the DVD player. if you have a lousy DVD player, then media compatibility is gonna be a concern. i personally read the reviews on the pioneer dv333, and it's newer dv343. the reviews were great and completely accurate. plays cheapo 1x princo media flawlessly.

    @Bhola,

you can try looking at the dvd player section of this website. i tried looking specifically for your dvd player, but no model showed up. the closest i could find was

    Panasonic HT-290D and Panasonic HTD-510.

unfortunately, both those DVD players don't support DVD-R or DVD+R.

however, you should go here https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers and try to find your particular dvd player and see which type of media it supports and also its reviews

  6. Thanks for the Link- I found one closest mode. It is SA-HT70 and should be the same which support both DVD+ and -r, rw

  7. Hi all

    @Bhola:
My first backups were playing fine on my PS2 and Pioneer DV626-D, but not on a friend's Panasonic player.
"This type of disc cannot be played" (or something similar).
After doing some reading, I switched to UDF/ISO mode in Nero.
Now all my backups play on the Panasonic.

So my question would be, what software and settings do you use to burn your discs?

This might have nothing to do with the problem you're having, but you never know.

I am using two main program to copy disk. One is Instant Copy and other is nero. Some time I used DVD Xcopy. I have this problem from any program I used. Once my drive read that disk it works. -B

  11. I'm affraid I do not use Nero Express, but with Nero Burning Rom my settings are:

    DVD-ROM : UDF/ISO.

    >> ISO settings tab:
File/Directory name lenght "ISO Level 1".
    Character Set ISO 9660.
    (leave all other checkboxes unchecked)

    >> UDF settings tab:
    UDF Physical Partition Type.
    File System Version UDF 1.02

    I hope this will help.

  12. nero express, which i use, is for more beginner users. it hides alot of the settings. so far, all the dvds i've burned using nero express has worked in my dvd-rom...no big deal....however, they have also worked very well in my pioneer dv333

  13. i have the Panasonic HT75 DVD player,it has been pretty good for me so-far with,

    Ritek 2x G03
    Ritek 4x G04
princo 4x media (only burns at 2x tho) which is a bitch.

    bad media was :

    Maxwell 2x MXL RG01

had to make sure i was under 4300meg with these as they failed otherwise. plus they didnt read to well in my HT75 as they had a very pale dye compared to say the ritek dark purple dye.

i find the HT75 gets pretty hot aswell from the amp and it needed to be very ventalated.

    beefy.

  14. beefgravy,

Does your HT75 read all dvd at once? As you know mine read some time and if I get "NO DISK" I have to open tray and close it and it read it next time-OR I have to turn the power off and on and it might read it. Once it read it there is no issue.
I have not used Ritek or Princo as I have Sony DRX-500UL so I stick with what sony recomended which is Verbatim, FujiFilm etc.
And what happen if it gets hot? As I never noticed that my player is hot
Thanks all for reply on this post-B
