Ive just found this ffmpeg (http://ffmpeg.sourceforge.net) tool and used it to convert a DivXmovie to a VCD mpeg movie. Im not an expert in video encoding so Im not sure if ffmpeg is good enough for encoding like TMPGEnc. Could some one with a Windows and a Linux box test the quality and time to do the same task using ffmpeg (Linux) and TMPGEnc (Windows)??
The most interesting about ffmpeg is that it works in command line. Its like "sox" from linux. Ex: ffmpeg Movie.avi Movie.mpg. Of course there are a lot of options and supported codecs.
