What version of DVD shrink are you using? I've had no problem with it myself on episode disc.

  5. just wondering if you have win98 or any OS using FAT32. keep in mind FAT32 doesn't allow any files bigger than 4 gig. copy2dvd makes an .iso image file before burning, which will be truncated at 3.99 gig if you have win98 FAT32. unless you're burning a DVD that's less than 3.99 gigs, otherwise, any DVD u burn that is over 4 gigs will have something cut out, which will definitely give you problems.

also, are you having problems playing in DVD-ROM, standalone dvd player, or both?

Always use a DVD-RW when testing etc. That way if you "Screw Up the Disk" you can format and start over.

DVDS seasons are encoded differently. from what ive seen dvds arent only ntsc or ntsc film. most of the seasons ive seen on dvd are IVTC (a mix of both of the formats). maybe DVD Shrink doesnt support making IVTC encoded video. so i would suggest encode each episode individually. ive doen this everytime and works like a charm. for TV shows especially animation you do not need the high resolution of 720*480(576). i would suggest make each episode to an XVCD with a bitrate of 1800 for video and 128 for audio. and you will get great results, and no pixels and you can fit way more stuff onto a dvd-r than using only 1 show and using a whole Giga byte just for one show. using the bitrate you would use about 350 MB per show. with this rate you could put about 12 shows on one dvd-r or a little less or a little more.

i think the original poster may have wanted not to have to re-encode the shows, but rather just to a simple transcode on them, since transcoding is simpler and faster. dvdshrink 2.3 works great for me. i think he's having problems not with the transcoder, but with the burning proggie. i personally switched over to nero express from copy2dvd because of my win98 FAT32's 4 gig filesize limit. nero works fine.

in this case, you don't need to worry about the 4 gig filesize limit because winXP uses NTFS, instead of FAT32.

this error could be due to any of the proggies you're using...(i.e. dvddecryptor, dvd2one, and/or copy2dvd).... what you can do is switch 1 and only 1 of the programs and c if you have the same error. perhaps, you can switch to using nero and c if it can burn the files properly and the resulting DVD-R can be played on your dvd player. if it does, then the problem is copy2dvd. if after switching to nero, and nero also can't burn it, perhaps dvd2one is having problems transcoding...or maybe even dvddceryptor not ripping the files properly.

  14. just a note, windows xp does use fat32 and ntfs, if you are running fat32 then you can convert no problems.

Standard Windows utility that is called CONVERT serves this purpose

Just go to the Command Prompt and execute the command:

    C:\> CONVERT C: /fs:ntfs

Where C: is a name of the drive you want to convert.

After machine re-boot conversion process will start and you'll have your FAT32 converted to NTFS without of data loss

one can check what your file system is by right clicking on "my computer" and going to Manage.. from there pick "Disk Management" and it will bring up a list of your cpu drives and tell you what the "File System" is on each drive

errr but as others have mentioned it sounds like the original poster was running into more of a burning problem then anything else..

If was going to back up the simpsons I would just CRUSH the hell out of the disk with DVDshrink or dvd2one being they are cartoons and odds are they would hold up pretty well to that.. burn them with Nero and be done with it..

I'm not sure I would bother to go 2 Dvdr per a DVD back up a cheaper box set like the simpsons.. being you are looking at 6 disk turning into 12.. that is near $20+ for a back up set.. Getting close to the "just buy another copy" level for a $35ish set of disks.. Vs say making a $2 back up of a OOP DVD like Dawn of the Dead (worth $40) or a back up of one of those $99 Strek sets so one's kids can mess with the disks.
