I have a mpg file which I would like to burn to a vcd...but its over 711MB's and the cd-rw I have is only 700. Is there any way I can cut out a few scenes to make the file smaller? Thanks in advance to anyone who helps.

  2. There are several video editors in the tool section that you can use to cut a movie.

TMPGEnc is free (for Mpeg1 files) and will accomplish that.

I know about tmpgenc, but I was hoping I could work with the current file without encoding it over again...is there anything that will let me do that?

  4. have you tried virtualdubmod?
    http://virtualdubmod.sourceforge.net/

i haven't tried chopping any mpegs with it but if it works the same way that virtualdub chops AVIs it should be a quick easy chop.

I'm afraid the VirtualDUB mod can only read MPEG-2 files. It won't save them even in direct stream copy mode. On the other hand, Tmpgenc has the MPEG utility selection under the file menu. The last option alows to merge and cut mpeg streams.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

  6. If you are burning as VCD and not data you can get 800MB/80min of video onto a 700MB/80min CDR. So the file you have will fit easily.
