  1. Hi guys

I captured a documentation with my capture card and windvr and got a mpeg-2 file with a size of 950 MB.

I don't want to use two cd's to burn this file, so I'm looking for a way to re-encode the mpeg-2 file, probably lowering the bitrate in order to make the file fit on 1 cd.

Is there a tool that can do this?

    thx for any help

  2. Go over to the tools section and download DVDPatcher. You MIGHT be able to lower your bitrate using this.

    Good luck!
Just what is this reality thing anyway?

DVDPatcher will NOT lower the actual bitrate and reduce the file size as is required. The only option is to re-encode. To do this you can use TmpGenc (hass certain issues opening mpeg-2 as source files though), Cinema Craft encoder (Won't open mpeg-2 files directly, need to frameserve) or Main Concept encoder (which I think Will open mpeg-2 files).

    Hope this helps.

I am succesfully using Mainconcept to re-encode MPEG-2 files. You can use the SVCD profile which selects all the appropriate settings for you.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

  5. Okay, thanks for the advice. I'll try Mainconcept then...

Yes, the TMPGEnc wizard can do it, or you can manually do it with a bitrate calculator. What is the present resolution and bitrate?
    Hello.
