  2. No burned discs will play on all DVD players, some players are simply not capable of playing burned discs, or are only capable of playing - or +. As cornacopia has said "DVD-ROM" are pressed not burned.

    Couple of points of order (as it were) + suggestions:

    1) The AUDIO_TS folder is not required for DVD-Video, its actually part of the DVD-Audio spec but will be ignored by a DVD Video player, as will anything else in other directories;
    2) Cornucopia is pretty much correct, although I'm sure the Book Type settings can be overridden (some DVD+R writers can be changed to do this even for DVD+R discs - it must be in the image somewhere);
    3) Have a look a www.disctronics.co.uk website, they have lots of interesting info on DVD formats. From what I can gather, DVD Video should be UDF Bridge format (UDF + ISO), 8.3 filename structure, no Joilet, etc;
    4) Try and get a look at the official book specs (easier said than done), by the sound of it the book type is used in each sector (I think) so it should be easy(ish) to change it.

    Good luck and let us know how you get on, when I've got time (and a burner) I'll try and digest the info from disctronics and put a definitive guide for burn spec together to achieve maximum compatibility (ignoring the easy one of having the same brand DVD player as DVD burner - and even thats probably not guaranteed to be 100%!).

    5) Try the media your friend uses.
