hey i live in england im looking for a good priced dvd writer that i can make dvd-r because i think they work on 90 per cent of dvd players
what i want to do with the dvd writer is to make dvd for example movies that i have in vcd format on my computer i want to be able to burn those onto dvd-r so i can fit the whole movie on to one disc and to make dvd for personal use like putting my favourite music videos on to disc
and one more question say i have downloaded a full live concert of my favourite band and all the videos come up to over 1 gigabite will i be able to put that on one dvd-r disc?
    thanks later

  2. I would recommend the Pioneer A-05 for DVD-R or the Pioneer A-06 for DVD-R and DVD+R.

Recordable DVD's will hold upto 4.7GB

  3. Would the 1 Gb worth of files be in VCD format because if you have a gigs worth of VCD that is going to be too long in hours, minutes and seconds to fit onto a standard DVD-Video disk. Unless you change the recording settings to fitt more time on you are only going to get 2 hours worth of DVD-Video standard quality onto a 4.7Gb DVD R. I don't know if I am right on this but it is only a thought.

  4. BigPockets.co.uk are selling the Pioneer AO5 for £99 and the new AO6 for £170. These are just the bare bones drives, but I'm sure you can get access to software from somewhere!

As for your other question, you'll have no problems recording 1 gig of video onto a 4.37 gig DVDR disc, but whether it's in the correct format to play in a DVD player is a different matter!
