    Hi

I seem to have installed an application that uses the Ligos Mpeg Decoder.
It is probably one of my mpeg ENCODERS.
    I have 2 questions.

    1) How do I stop Zoomplayer from using this codec for playback (it's freezing my videos) Apart from deleting the codec is there any other way??

    2) IF I DELETE WILL IT AFFECT MY ENCODING PROGRAMS??

I have other codecs on my PC for mpeg1 and 2.

    Cheers

If the uninstaller works properly, it will unregister the codec, and remove it without issue. Usually, in the event of a problem, you can simply re-install the software with the codec you want to use. That will typically resolve any registration errors.

Worse case, uninstall it, along with all of your other MPEG-2 codecs/players, and then reinstall the one you wish to keep.

What uninstaller?? It was automatically installed with an ENCODER which I want to keep.
My question was really is it safe to uninstall it.
In my impatience I have uninstalled it now anyway.
I used DXMAN to uninstall it.

It was part of a package install? You can always disable individual codecs in the control panel, if your using 2000 or XP. I can't remember if you can do the same in 98/ME.

DXMan will also get the job done. As long as the codec is unregistered (using either method), it is the same thing as uninstalling it (without acutally removing the file of coure).

Yes it was obviously done as part of a package as I never installed it independently.
I know you can remove through Control Panel but I didn't know what it was called. They all have strange names.

    Anyway it's sorted.

The main reason I asked the question was to see if it would affect my encoder. I guess not.
