  1. Well as the title says:
    http://www.compusa.com/adproducts/html_ad/default2.asp
Don't know if this is a typo, but wow, great price.
    Blah, blah, blah

The correct price is actually $320 after rebate + $30 for shipment.

The ad in question says in store only. Actually it says to get the price you must print out the online page and take it in. So I wouldn't think $30 for shipping would be correct. Not that I'd put it above compusa to try and charge shipping on an instore product.

  4. Just found a $30 rebate on it too. Don't know if you can get both, but if you could that makes the drive only $140+tax. As flaystus, this is only for instore purchase. But I found the $30 rebate online at www.compusa.com.
    $30 rebate

  5. Well, I'm about to head out to try and get this deal. The rebate should work.

    Guys,
What is going on here. I went to the linked sites in the postings and I found some VERY confusing information.
At one CompUSA link it says 169 after rebates. So click on that link to get more info and then it says 319 after rebates. Nothing about "in store only" in any of the ads. Only that it was available.

So what is the REAL story.

  7. Let me try to help some of you who seem to be exuberant this Sony drive is going for $130-$169....simply put..forget about it...no way in hell this drive is going for that price. How do I know? Because it's common sense..that's how...everywhere else you look the drive is TWICE as much...

I haven't even checked the link..just read the post...the ONLY possibility is that it's an error on compusa's part....one they probably won't honor....you can take this Sony drive, unbox it, drop it on the floor, kick it like a goal in a soccer game...bounce it a few times...and sell it 'AS IS' and you still won't be able to sell it for less then $200.....sorry...but that's the truth.

I can see it now..many have already gone to Compusa and done nothing more then waste their time.....hopefully you can at least get some type of good deal on media..so it's not completely a wasted trip.

    :P

  8. Sorry I got your hopes up. I really didn't mean to hurt anyone. I honestly thought this deal may be true at the beginning. But it seems as though this was a price mistake, it is no longer linked off the compusa site. And I apologize for any confusion.
As to eds--- post, it clearly says in HUGE letters on the first link, "These Specials Offers In-Store Only," right under the compusa logo.
    Blah, blah, blah

  9. nufan292, thanks, I'll have my girlfriend scream your name next time we're having sex. It may be a little while because it was a totally unexpected purchase that I really didn't have the money for. Luckily, I'm working a ton of overtime. A top of the line Sony +/- drive for $140 after rebate is a fantastic deal. (BTW, where did you find this ad?)

Everyone else, don't be a player hater cause I have the drive in my hands.

THE DEAL IS REAL, RUN AND GET YOURSELF ONE!

  10. Oh yeah, bring a copy of the ad, it's in stores only (no online orders), the additional $30 Sony rebate should print out at the register (or print out the linked one), the ad is only good through July 5th, not sure if Compusa is open on the 4th. No clue if they'd do rainchecks if they're out, but I doubt it. Also make sure you get the DRU-510A for the deal, I almost grabbed a similar looking one (510ul????) and had them get that for me.

Also give nufan292 a great big thanks for bringing this sweet deal to our attention. Can't you tell I'm excited?

  11. I don't know what CompUSA is pulling, but this drive was $329 in my local store last Friday. I used it as a price match to Best Buy.

  12. Damnit! They caught it and changed it in the last hour. More power to whomever got that great deal! I nearly crapped my pants when I saw this at work, but didn;t print the add in time. That would have been one hell of a deal.

  13. Did anyone happen to save the PDF of that add when it said 170? I want to go after work today, and would be very greatful if you could email it to me. Thanks!

  14. Oh yeah, the drive was marked $329 on the shelf, but the guy at the register knew about it when I showed him the printout. He referred to it as the "dark ad" to his manager. I'm not sure if this was a secret promo or a screw-up. That's why I wondered where nufan292 found it.

  15. I'm glad that this deal worked for some, and others were able to price match. Where did I get it? Well it was circulating through some websites.

yeah I first saw it off of techbargains, was tempted to spend cash I didn't have on the chance of getting one that cheap. But didn't because as I said I didn't really have the cash to spend. I'm glad if some people got the price... maybe it will teach compusa an error checking lesson, but I hope not.
