  1. Granted I am new to this, but I have read many letters in this forum.
    1. I captured movies with Old USB Dazzle and VIrtualDub
    2. I encoded with TMPGEnc
    3. I burned with VCDEasy, Nero, and a program called Smartdisk MVP
    4. I tried 4 different media types: Memorex CD-R and CD-RW, Maxell CR-R, and a generic Staples brand CR-RW.
    5. I tried 2 different CD burners: Teac DW224 DVD-R and CD-RW, and old Ioemga CD burner.

After trying all these combinations, I get the same results. I put the CD in the drive and it auto-load WINDVD, but it won't play the VCD. When I click play it automatically stops. I also tried PowerDVD with same results. I can play the .dat files using WMP or WINDVD, but I can't play the VCD as a disc.

So, any ideas? Bad media, bad burner (TEAC Min speed X4) I also tried running them from the CD-rom in my other computer, but no luck.

BTW I did try a forum search, but couldn't really find an answer.

  2. Also, I was wondering if anyone thought it might play on a real DVD-player even though it doesn't play on my computer.

  3. The guide seems to suggest that I need to play the .dat file rather than letting the disc auto-play when using my dvd-rom. Is this true?

  4. Ok, I downloaded PowerDVD 5 and it plays my VCD!

But now I am wondering why WINDVD won't play it?

Is there an option somewhere I should change?
