  1. Hi,

I have just purchased a Kiss DVD DP-500 player that plays video files encoded in most popular media formats with no problems (dvd,avi,divx,xvid,mpeg1 and 2, bla bla bla) to TV.
I would like to create/author a dvd menu that links to my .avi's
without doing any type of conversion to mpeg1 or 2, m2v, etc. . The .avi's have been created with different encoders (XVid,DivX, etc...). They all play effortlessly on my Kiss dvd box.
Now, in the past when I used to make menu's for cd's I used Oscars (www.mediachance.com) MultimediaBuilder. Damn good cd menu building prog! I would basically just link a menu object with a file and bango!, it would execute. I want to do the same for a DVD-R with the .avi files. I want to author a DVD menu to be seen on my TV. I've tried just about all the applications, but they all want to convert and split my .avi's into other formats. I just want a simple menu system that works. Nothing fancy.
Whats out there that I can use to do the job?, or how with what authoring application? Please help me. I've been scouring all forums and the net for an answer.

The future of dvd set top boxes ARE supporting the compressed media formats, so where's the software to play with the technology? If anyone knows of a way to make another software accept .avi without converting them at all that will let me link them to a menu please reply.

    Regards,

There is NO way to do this on a settop player. Contrary to what you said, it isn't[ trivial to mix such diverse sources.

But you could still do what you were doing, just for PC access though.

  3. Hi Scott,

I have dropped 6 movies encoded in raw Xvid and DivX on a dvdr and played them directly from my Kiss box with no problems. I think there is a way with some program to make the menu for this. There's got to be.
