  1. Hi.
I´m new to this but I´m very interested.
After reading about ripping a dvd, I realize my head is overfilled with information and questions.
It seems to be a lot of different methods and programs to use so I just wonder:

Is it worth all the job or is it more a "hobby" to rip a film?
I don´t want to spend a couple of days to get my s/vcd from it.
    Still I´m interested.

It´s so many programs to use so I get confused over it...

    Any thoughts about this "problem"?

    Thanks Stefan Ljungström

    Check out:

    DVD2SVCD
    http://www.dvd2svcd.org/
Needed: CDRW, DVD-ROM, and about 20+ gig HD.
Just needs a encoder, but read the information on where to pick one
    up at.
Simple easy to use all in one package.

I suggest that you read the how to guides on the left hand side.
Start with Articles, Newbie all-in-one guides and work
    your way up from there.

  3. i whould say it is worth it.
after a while you create your own method of how to do things,
so it doesnt take so long to complete a project.
the most time consuming thing is encoding the movie, because it takes hours, but you can set the computer to do it while your going to sleep.

all in all, the time i HAVE to spend infront of the computer to set
things up ,rip the movie to the HD and setting the encoder to
encode what i want , takes less then 30 minuts.
the actual encoding will be done later when i go to sleep.

burning the thing takes about 10 minuts
HELL AINT A BAD PLACE TO BE

  4. Hi.
    Thanks for very quick answers.
I will try DVD2SVCD...it seems to be a very easy way, and I hope the quality is as good as any other method...at least close to.

  5. also, if you ever graduate to ripping to DVD-Rs, you can even skip the encoding all together, if you're making a 1:1 copy (i.e. single-layer DVD to DVD-R/+R)

if you have to transcode (i.e. dual-layer DVD to DVD-R/+R), which is kinda like encoding, transcoding an entire DVD only takes about 30 min, depending on the speed of your machine and which proggie u use.

so, that's going to cut down on the time and amount of proggies you need considerably.
