I have this program and its lightning compared to TMPGEnc.
Unfortunately when you use AVI as the source is does not keep letterboxed video. It turns it to full screen and makes the aspect ratio wrong.
    1) Is there anyway to sort this out??
    2) Is there another program that users the Main Concept Encoder for encoding and gives you the option to "keep aspect ratio" like TMPGEnc does.

    Cheers

  2. If you have the stand-alone encoder, you can frameserve from Virtualdub, and Use Virtualdub to resize, crop, letterbox etc.

Typically, if you are going to encode to (e.g.) vcd, then use the resize filter in vdub to letterbox and resize to 352*288. Play with it and use the preview to make sure you have it right aspect-ratio wise.

Start the vdub frameserver, save a .vdr file and open it in the encoder. Should work fine.

    Hi
Are there any guides on this site how to frameserve with Virtual Dub??
I have never frameserved before and have no idea how to do it.

  4. here's a couple:

You will need to use the virtualdub filters (video/filters/add). Null transform (cropping) if you want to trim anything off the sides, and resize (with letterbox option) before you start the frameserver.

Do a quick search and there are a number of posts dealing with examples - its pretty easy and intuitive once you've done it once.
