I'm trying to use the engines installer in version 0.0.7d and it seems to be stuck. I set a root pass and tried that as well as my regular user pass and neither seem to work. It just spins after I click install and enter the pass. I've let it run for hours!

Put the required programs (mplayer, mencoder, mpeg2enc) on your desktop. Then launch the installer and locate the programs who are on your desktop. Normally it must works. If you choose the programs already located in /usr/bin then the wheel spin without ending...

I have same problem also. The files are on the desktop, but still the installer spins forever. Also, I have Virtual PC 6, and try to copy mpeg2enc there, but the usr/bin folder is not writeable. Does anybody have any idea about this?

  5. I'll check and fix this for version 0.0.7e due before end july.

The installer spun forever for me if any of the files were already in usr/bin/ which could be the case for you. I logged in as root (which is necessary to delete files from this location) and deleted any that were in there and the installer worked fine. Also be sure to download the binaries from the directory mentioned above each blank in the installer. (just using the mplayer and mencoder app files will not work ... get the binaries).

Make sure you're comfortable using root privileges and navigating Unix, however ... there are some perils to this process, but it's quite doable.
