I'm new to DVD-R burning and I have a question about region codes.
I have a few mpg files that are in ntsc format (29 odd fps), how the thing is if I use DVD burning software to burn these files on the a DVD-R, will they become automatically Region 1 discs?
I live in Region 2 (pal), so I'm worried that if I burn the ntsc mpgs as ntsc and they become region 1 DVDs that I won't be able to play them in my DvD player with is region 2.
I've tried converting them with Tmpenc plus to PAL, but the movie becomes jerky, is there any way to stop that also?
Many thanks

even if they do change to a region where they wont be able to play you can always get a dvd hack for ur dvd player which will then hopefully enable you to change the region to 0 which means no region !! you can find the hacks on ur left

Burned DVD's have no region. Regions are part of the manufacturing process for commercial DVD's.
Whether your PAL DVD Player and TV can play a 29.97 fps NTSC complient MPEG2 stream is the real issue. To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
No, PAL TVs play PAL video. NTSC TVs play NTSC video. However, there are dual format TVs and DVD players out there. The majority of DVD players are dual format. If you look in setup there's often a choice to choose PAL or NTSC.
Fewer TVs are dual format. VERY few NTSC TVs support PAL. But I've been told that a fair number of midrange+ PALs in Europe are dual format. In the end you need to check the specific eqp you are using.
