I use Pinnacle Studio 8 to capture from my Sony DV camcorder.
I can't hear audio during capture but it captures audio okay when I play it back from my hard drive.
I'd like to hear the audio when I capture, do I need to tick a setting somewhere?
    Thanks,
    Will

noticed the same thing, but like you said it captures fine - haven't found the magic tick anywhere yet but do get around it by putting the camera speaker on while capturing.
also i think it's a dv thing because i don't get same problem capturing with studio 8 using my hi 8 analogue

  3. There's a good reason for this. Studio 8 does not have audible audio during capture, not to mention it also has AV/Sync problems (OOS) as well. I do use and like Studio 8 for everything *except capture.* For capture I use scLive. It has audible audio during capture and no problems with OOS.

Yep, like yourself it doesn't happen to me when I used to have an analogue camcorder which, for the record, I never used Studio when capturing, it Virtualdub for me when capturing any analogue source, vhs, tv or otherwise
I too use the camcorder speaker too but Im too lazy to plug it in
    Thanks,
    Will

  5. I bought Pinnacle Studio7 and heard the audio during capture from my Dig Sony Camcorder then I did a software patch and the audio went away but it still did capture the audio. I got used it to. Then I upgraded to Studio8 and now I have the audio back. Note, I'm still using the same camcorder. It's annoying now to hear the sound so I mute my speakers during a capture. The only time I have audio/video sync issues is when I capture from VHS, I've never had a syn issue with my camcorder.

But of course that would be the AUDIO before CAPTURE

I am having he same problem
    ITS A PROBLEM because:
EVEN tho DV tapes have no dropouts
MY ANALOG SOURCES do, when I convert them, sometime as the audio goes in, there's an error from the drop out
IF ITS A MOVIE FROM VHS..I don't know about the problem until an hour later.....

DAMN if I'm gonna recpture all that just to fix a few seconds of bad AUDIO

IF I COULD HEAR THE DAMN SOUND i could tell and try to re capture right away the problem point

THIS SUCKs..cause i've reinstalled till I'm blue in the face
and I hereby report this is not a PINNALCE problem
IT A WIN 2000, XP capture problem when you use DV source
UNDER 98se no problems exist..(except the damn 18min file limit)

I'm getting sceenalyzer now..If it fixes me up..I'll repost

I don't think Studio 8 will play sound while capturing, or in capture mode, but does capture the audio along with the video. I've had Studio 8 now for just over 6 months, and only once had the audio and video out of sync, and I've captured from 2 different capture devices, using SVideo, A/V cables, and TV Tuner.

  9. When you transfer via firewire it`s just like you are moving data from one harddrive to another.Apps usually preview the video but not the audio.(TIKO)

  10. I am capturing "Die Hard" from VHS (VCR) using Pinnacle Moviebox DV (firewire) and Stodio 8 right now while I'm replying to this post (on another computer) I am watching the movie in Studio 8 and listening to the audio through my computer speakers at the same time. Studio 8 is version 8.6 (came with Movie box). ............. harrymj3

Well SCEENALYZER failed to fix this system up!
Now I can hear audio as I capture in intermittent glitchy bursts..

I really would like to hear as I'm not on cable and RABBIT EARS sometimes go out as you convert to firewire and capture.
I know its supposed to be a file tranfer from DV.
BUT MY SITUATION is different as I'm converting from ANALOG on-the-fly

Why can't any of these applications pass the sound during capture like the same apps do PERFECTLY in Windows 98??!!

In fact I can reboot to 98 on this very machine and hear as I capture in 9 different applications:
    Dazzle MainActor
    Ulead Video Capture 6.0
    Adobe Premiere 6.0
    MGI Videowave
    Vegas Video 3.0
    Screenblaster 2.0
    ArcSoft ShoBiz 1.0
    My DVD 4.0
    NeoDVD Plus4

NOT ONE OF these passes sound in the other WINDOW OS, 2000!!!!!

so now I'm going to try SCENALYZER's feature of making sure you have unlimited captures in WIN98 despit FAT 32 limits.. If this works I can just reboot to get more stable when I edit it WIN2K

As long as I know I'm not alone in not hearing DV audio during capture I'm happy!
    Will

(long live Virtualdub for anyting other than DV captures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - uncheck the lock audio to video box and enjoy 100% in sync audio/video!)

I'm gonna try VIRTUAL DUB, Will :-)
    under 2000, that is...

Can't use SCENELYZER under 98, cause the freeware version doesn't have a capture facility and I don't have 35 bucks to register yet for the other vers...

remember, , once we get this working,
BY DESIGN the audio feed will be out of sync with the camera monitor by a small amount..but only during the capture event itself...
ARE YOU READY for temporary ECHO?

    Good for you!
This might be of some use:
High Quality Capturing with Little Frame Loss in VirtualDub

Although looking at your system spec this will be even better:
Capture AVI at 720x576 in VDub with ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon

Virtual Dub 1.4 Couldn't connect to capture driver
(I'm still using the DV Device, not the A-I-Wonder)
    V. Dub 1.54 wouldn't run after trying to open capture

I love the program tho..I'll try it on the other system with ATI next.
I've been using Ulead 'cause it makes a big window during capture display but I've no love for this appp...

BELOW a picture that shows good DRIVERS and no problem that would disable AUDIO during capture
when the driver is installed correctly..It looks like below
I think this is good for PINNACLE USERs who capture DV thru their PINNACLE too!

You can't use Vdub for DV, only analogue.

  17. I notice the sound (problem) with Studio 8 too. I adjust the line in volume during the capture. Click the speaker icon on the right side of the analog controller.

I'm not sure I know what you mean by 'analogue controller'.
