  1. I just found this great DVD ripping tool, Chopper XP. It allows extraction of a portion of a DVD with a video display.

I used it for a few DVDs and it worked well with them.

You can find it at http://www.digital-miner.com

correct me if I'm wrong, but Chopper is not a ripping tool, but a vob editing tool (unless they've added ripping to a new version)?

The new version can also decrypt CSS encrypted DVDs and so it is a ripper.

fair enough... I'd noticed there was a new version floating around, but I haven't run into any need to cut a vob lately, so I hadn't checked it.

    Great program..
CUTS VOB's short with just mark in, mark out..
BUT THEN YOU MUST SAVE AS..new file name...

It doesn't JOIN.. but then its free and its CHOPPER XP

I'm using it under 2000 ..I see good video preview of what i wanna choose from as soon as I open a VOB (I've only tried with already decrypted files on the harddrive..unless you're outta disc space you don't want to edit with footage coming from OPTICAL DISC directly as its slow)

  8. dcsos,

Do you have any problem in begining to see video and choose the part you want? When I click on play, it play the begining video and then freeze. I can still hear audio. There website does not have information.-B

Seeing your post, I installed CHOPPER XP
on 2 other windows 2000 machines.
    All 3 installed CHOPPERS
are able to open a de-encrypted VOB and play the full content VIDEO and AUDIO in the program window.
When I hit stop the clip goes back to the top..when i hit pause. it stays open to the frame I want to mark in (or out at)
No problem..want me to try WINXP?
