  1. Hi, I'd like to know how to play a vcd through my cd-rom, so I've tried to do It, but I found a big DAT file (698MB-movie size) that I've tried to open through Rad Light, WMP, and others. So I haven't got success.
How can I play it on my computer?

    Thank's!

Usually software DVD players play (S)VCD as well. Try PowerDVD or WinDVD.

  4. You can play VCDs on your PC with a CD-ROM drive. Windows ships with a MPEG1 codec (VCD) but NOT an MPEG2 codec (SVCD, CVD and DVD). To play MPEG2 files you'll need to get a MPEG2 codec.

To play VCDs you can use WMP (windows media player). Here's how:

    1) Place VCD in CD-ROM drive
    2) Run windows explorer
    3) Select the VCD
    4) Go to the MPEGAV folder
    5) Right click on the AVSEQxx.DAT file (xx will be some number from 01-99)
    6) Choose open with, then select WMP

Depending on your OS you might not be able to open VCD dat files from within WMP, but the above method (open with) works on all M$ OS's.
