  1. I have three 700 mb DivX .avi files. I have tried converting them to VCD, but I am having problems. First, I tried extracting the audio to a .wav file with virtualdub, but I get an error having something to do with compression (I have the AC3 codec if that has anything to do with it). So then, I used AVI2WAV and I successfully extracted the audio, and listened to it, and it was fine. Then I tried to create an MPG file with Tmpgenc but it came out with no sound (I made sure the correct audio and video files were encoded.) I have a hunch that the problem might be that the audio was made into a 48000 Hz .wav file, instead 44100. So, is that the problem, and if so, is there any way to get virtualdub to do it (since AVI2WAV has no setting to change the frequency)

One more thing, after encoding it with Tmpgenc, I found the video to be blocky and of low quality (The DivX was good quality). Is there anything I can do to make it better?

Would it be possible to put it on three SVCDs to obtain higher quality? Each file is about 62 minutes in length. I know that was a lot, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Try Goldwave to extract your wav files, here's a guide.
