Recently I got a Winnov Videum 1000+, mainly due to the great reviews it had gotten here and elsewhere, but when I was installing it I ran into some problems.
There are two main issues;
1. Despite the fact that the drivers install ok and the card seems properly installed when checking the system rundown (no conflicts or warnings etc), the Winnov configuration tool fails to recognize the card being installed - it's like it isn't there.
2. The second problem is even more weird. After doing a clean installation of XP - with the card inserted into the computer - nothing out of the ordinary was going on and I could configure XP etc. But as soon as I install ANY drivers for the card, the computer suddenly starts to reset itself completely on its own every 10 or so minutes after it has booted into XP.
Any ideas/help on the matter would be greatly appreciated. I have listed my full system specs below.

Intel P4 2.4 GHz
512MB DDR RAM
Asus P4S8X (SiS 648 Chipset) motherboard
Asus Ti4200 GeForce 4

Has anyone heard of this, particularly problem 1. I am having the same problem and have pretty much given up. Bought the card(used) installed it and it worked great. Then I had to do a system restore and since then the card will not work. XP recognizes it is there but not what it is. It comes up in device manager as a "multimedia controller". And when I install the software it says no capture devices are found on my system. I would worship whoever could fix this because I am close to giving up and buying a new capture card.
PS. I have tried pretty much all conventional fixes. Changing slots, cleaning registry, etc. Thanks much. -
This is the troubleshooting link from support winnov(.)com
http://support.winnov.com/Win2000_NT_XP/Installation%20errors/
They talk about installation problems with XP. Read all 3 topics there, might help.
Heres another link to 2 more support pages you should read.
http://support.winnov.com/Win2000_NT_XP/PCI/
I'm seeing they recommend driver version 2.13 SP1 on XP systems. Here a link to their download page.

Here is their uninstall instructions.
http://support.winnov.com/win2000_nt_xp/pci/re-install_nt.htm
All I can find is the card is having issues with XP and their new driver is supposed to fix that. They say to do a complete uninstall of their product and reboot. Cancel WIndows installer. Download their new driver and install that. It should work. lol
I couldn't find if XP Service Pack 1, WM9 or anything about DirectX 9.0b being required but I'd consider those upgrades anyway.
Best of luck guys.
Hope this helps. -
Thanks Bottle, but I have already jumped through all those hoops. Thats why Im at the point of giving up and buying a new piece of hardware. Winnov's tech support was no help at all. Anyone need a Winnov Videum 1000+ card?

Maybe you've got a defective card. Is the warranty still good? Maybe you can still return it.....
Good luck.
p.s. no thanks. -
Have you tried to do a install of the drivers irregardless if they are not digitally signed? How about the install new hardware in windows? I would not have installed the card on a clean install until all the drivers and other peripherals were up and running. The card being the last thing irregardless of desire. Disable all USB ports also when loading the OS, it has conflicted with the ACPI on several occasions until the operation is completed.
