  1. When trying to rip a Region 1 DVD using DVD Decrypter (Sony DWU-10a firmware flushed to Sony DWU-500A with 1.1d firmware update) I got the message 'Brute force cracking failed ... There were no vulnerable blocks'. I was trying to rip all files in the file mode. Other Region 1 DVDs have ripped without problems.

Can anyone help me with a solution to this problem?

    Thank you

  2. Hello DRJAZZ123

This is just a wild guess, but could it be that disc was actually NOT protected, and DVD Decrypter was expecting a protection of some sort?
Or maybe it's a type of protection that DVD Decrypter cannot cope with.
Have you tried ripping it with Smart Ripper or DVD Shrink?

  4. Try SmartRipper instead in file mode. I'd got that same error with DVDDecripter once, and Smartripper read the complete DVD without a hitch.

  5. There is a reason why there are 4 different CSS cracking methods in the settings... if one doesn't work, try another!

  6. strange because I have done 200 successfull DVD's and have not had to switch any settings in dvd decrypter, I am almost positive that I have got this error before and just switched to a different dvd rom drive.
    Thanks alot,

do you have a separate DVD-ROM drive that you can use for ripping purposes (and playing DVDs, as well)? these DVD-ROMs are cheap...16x for around $30 or less. you prolly don't want to wear out your dvd burner anymore than you have to by using it to rip the DVDs. if your dvd burner breaks down, it's gonna cost you alot more than if a cheapo DVD-ROM breaks down. btw, i've heard that DVD burners don't seem to rip as fast or as well as regular DVD-ROMs....so far it's been the case with me (pioneer a04 vs. artec 16x DVD-ROM)
