That's entirely backwards. Where'd you get that information from? The "legal" DSS resolutions are 320x240 (for part of the signal), 704x480, 480x480, and 544x480. Dish is almost completely 480x480. Only DTV alters the resolutions and bitrates and audio from one channel to the next.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  2. I got the information from people that say that DirecTivo records at 480x480 (from the sat stream) and dishplayers/501/508 at 544x480 most of the time. Because this units only record the sat stream (do not encode/compress the video) then that's the resolution they send from the sat.

Great thread. Two threads threaded in one another. With some "visitors" talking about other things as well.

First of all guys. Stop talking about your connection speeds. It makes me feel miserable.

I tried this version and I think it will remain in history like 5.5.9.17. The version that works.

I guess SONY users are the ones with most of the troubles. Well, this latest nero update along with f/w 2.0f for the DRU500A is the best thing since Christmas. No jokes there.

Whatever disk I want, I through it in and it works wonders. It even tried recording at 4x on a no-name brand, reduced it to 2x later and 1x later, took a while to finish but the verification was error free.

For Sony users with troubles, it's highly recommended.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

I'm sorry, I should be more sensitive. I remember the waiting, the suffering...
