  1. I have tried a few programs like PowerVCR II or Move Factory II with the DVD+VR Standard.
When I try to capture something from the tv-card there is always an error-message that says there is not enough disc space or an unkown error happend. It doesn't matter which program I use, caputuring directly to the SVCD or DVD format never works!
But capturing to the VCD format always works - I don't understand that. All programs can capture directly to the vcd-format, but if I select SVCD or DVD nothing works anymore.
Do I need some codec? Are there a tv-cards which can't capture to svcd or dvd?
    I can't tell you, what tv-card I have because it's a no-name product but I know it has a Philips-WDM-Tuner.

    Can anybody help me, please?

I think more information about the rest of the machine would help.

To capture directly to SVCD or DVD format using a software encoder requires an incredible amount of CPU time. If you have less than a 1.5GHz Athlon or P4, the machine might not be able to handle it.

I have a 1.7GHz Athlon and I found I got much better results by capturing to AVI using Huffy codec and then converting to MPEG using TMPGEnc. The quality was noticably far better.

  3. Well, I have an AMD 1200 but I don't think this is the cause it doesn't work at all. If it would be working and the result would be of bad quality I would accept that the cpu is the cause.

    My PC:
    AMD 1200 Mhz
    Windows XP
    256 MB Ram
    HD 25 GB free
    TV-Card with Phillips WDM-Tuner
Geforce 4 MX 460 Graphics card

By the way: What program do you use to capture avi-Files?

PS: Almost forgotten: If I try to use Power VCR II to capture in SVCD or DVD quality the error message is:
"Unable to run capture graph" Does anybody know what this means?

I still use AVI_IO, it is the only one that will not drop frames with my Winnov Videum 1000+
