  1. I have a KLH DVD 221M player that will only play SVCD’s, but not original retail DVD’s. Weird, huh? I have tried cleaning the optical lens several times with no luck. Has anyone seen this symptom before or heard of a fix for it. I would be interested to hear any details regarding the fix, please help. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope someone posts a fix soon.

  2. I know this may sound like a stupid question, but you are trying to play discs from the correct region are you.

  3. Actually that is not a stupid question and I forgot to mention that in the original post – Yes, I am using the correct region, that’s what’s so weird about it. My player will play any VCD or SVCD that I burn. However it will not play any retail DVD’s like Spider Man, Matrix, etc. I have no clue what the problem is. I have run various searches on the internet with different search engines with no luck. Have you found any information or own the schematic for this unit? If so, could you help me out? The original troubleshooting area in the manual would be helpful. Lastly, thank you for replying to the question. Have a great 4th of July!

  4. I would say that the unit is faulty and if it is still under warranty return it. Did it ever play DVD's

  5. The unit plays DVD’s like the ones mentioned in the previous post from time to time. You have to play with it – open the door, close it, open the door, and close it, etc. – until it works. This is why I think there maybe an adjustment I could do or something. The unit is not under warranty. Do you have any other suggestions besides returning it that may possibly fix it or know anyone on the forum that is an expert at these things? Let me know, thanks (again).
