I have an Oritron 720 dvd player and got the hack to enable vcd working. I tried a vcd i burnt using NERO (Wizard) it didn't work. I know there are different ways to burn a vcd. different settings. i have read about using unauthored mpeg iso's. any help will be great. Thanks.

To enable VCDs, or CD-Rs? It appears according to the database, the jury is still out on whether your player plays CD-Rs ((S)VCDs). You may want to consider replacing it with a more universal player.

  3. Try VCDEasy. You can d/load it either to the left under tools or from http://www.doom9.org

  4. I experienced that VCD's burned with Nero (Express) show up in Explorer as being only a few kilobytes total size, and the DAT file is unreadable from the PC. However, it will still work just fine in my Pioneer DV-444. Burning with VCDEasy instead of Nero removed the problem for me, maybe its worth a try for you too. VCDEasy will give you these different settings you mentioned.

It says no driver for cdr/rw drive. Use Force Driver. I have never needed a driver ( windows recognizes it and doesn't ask for one ) also the Force Driver option, didn't find it anywhere. I went to acer's web site ( the brand of cd drive) and i didnt find drivers for my drive. any ideas?

Now, this is a CDRDAO error message. You probably haven't got your ASPI layer set up correctly. Try the ForceASPI installation (Tools/Burn). If that still wont help, go to the CDRDAO home page and take a look at the compatibility chart to se what driver (if any) to use with your burner.
Last resort (and not a bad one at that!) is to just create the VCD image with VCDEasy (uncheck the "Burn" checkbox on the main page) and then use Nero to burn the cue/bin (File -> Burn image). Also, keep the burn speed low. This has been argued, but on some systems it actually seems to make a difference. I use 4X when burning (S)VCD.

i have downloaded updated ASPI drivers and tried everything i can think of. I think i ma need the drivers for my cd-rw drive but cant find them. I found some but they were listed as being for Win98. I am using Windows2000. The driver is an ACER 2410A.
