  1. Well... I purchased my first DVD-RW disc (Imaton 2x compatible $6!!) and burned a DVDSP authored music video (On my Sony DRU-500A DVD-RW drive) to see if I created my menu right. It played on my Apex 1201, but the menu didn't because I think i screwed it up in DVDSP. So I go back into Toast 5.1.4 and try to erase it, it just spits it out, no explanation. I try Disc utility, says it's read only in info tab, but gives me the option to erase it in the erase tab. I try that, no luck. I try disc copy, it doesn't even see the Sony Drive! Has anyone had these problems? Will I have to go back to CompUSA and get my $ back? I was going to anyways... but now I have a real reason to! 8) Thanx in advance.

Aside from updating to Toasts newest version 5.2.x or trying another comptuer to erase that disk on I'm affraid I cant offer much of an answer here.

Never had this problem myself, but I have never had anything but 5.2 for toast (that was the version of toast I started using when I started using DVD-RW's)

You could try erasing it on another comptuer to see if its something specific to your computer, or just take it back to where you got it and say LOOK, it wont erase on my comptuer (have them take it to their macintosh section and see if it will erase on one of theirs using disk utility) if they will even allow you to do that, or just exchange it for another disk or another brand perhaps. (Imaton is a good brand though)

  3. I am in the process of upgrading to Toast 5.2.1, but I still don't see the reason for my machine to read this DVD-RW as read-only, even with disc utility. Did I burn it wrong? This sux.

  4. I had the same problem eventhough I use Sony's external version.
Toast didn't erase - same with Diskcopy.

Even after this hack I found on the net - the sonydru500AXModPlugin - it still didn't work.
After some 'research' I stumbled into Discribe OSX 5 which did exactly what I asked - erase that DVD-RW/DVD+RW.
All you have to do is to put the already burned disc in - and Discribe will overwrite it - it doesn't even ask you to confirm so make sure you put in the right DVD-RW.

    Good luck.
