  1. Im having a problem making an svcd which will display properly.
    I have an mpeg2 file which i downloaded off the net which i want to burn as an svcd. The mpeg file is flagged as 16:9 generic.
    If i play the file directly in windvd it plays fine with large black bars at the top and bottom.
    If i put this on an svcd using vcdeasy and load the image using daemon tools then when i play it in windvd then i still get black bars but they are about half the size which makes the video look stretched.
    Is there any way to make it play properly without re-encoding (the videos not great anyway, i dont want to re-encode)

  2. did you try the cd on a dvd player/tv?
    Ejoc's CVD Page:
    DVDDecrypter -> DVD2AVI -> Vobsub -> AVISynth -> TMPGEnc -> VCDEasy

    DVD:
    DVDShrink -> RecordNow DX

    Capture:
    VirualDub -> AVISynth -> QuEnc -> ffmpeggui -> TMPGEnc DVD Author

  5. im archiving a lot of the video off my pc onto cds. Better to burn them as vcd/svcd then to put the mpegs oto a blank and have to rencode the lot again when i get round to buying a dvd player.
    Anyone got any suggestions to my problem?

    DVD players don't support 16:9 playback from SVCD. The only way would be to re-encode with the black bars inserted. SVCD does not support 16:9 pulldown flags.

  7. My Hi-8mm video camera has 16:9 Full and I got that to play as a SVCD correctly on a wide screen tv. TMPGEnc was used to encode the MPEG-2 file from a 720 x 480 capture of the (normally 640 x 480) video. Nero burned the SVCD, however, TMPGEnc was used in the DVD mode and not the SVCD mode. Compliance was unchecked in Nero. There were two advanced options in TMPGEnc that worked. Most did not. Use 16:9 display and use Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio) or Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio 2). Both worked.
