Football - the most widely played game in the world.
    I could stop there but:
Golf (Scottish) - The US love this.
Tennis (Lawn, clay etc) - The US also love this.
Boxing - The US really love this.
Tiddlywinks - Dont know what the US think of this - but a great game nonetheless.
Cricket - A lame game that is only played by ex empire colonies... that always beat England.
Rugby - What other big sport excepts that its OK to punch, kick, bite, headbutt etc. (Within reason, hehe)without any protection?
Pub Games (or Pub Crawl) - A very British sport that you dont have to be fit to be good at.

  12. Tiddlywinks? Now I understand d4n13l's mentality.

Baseball is still the American pastime. American football, not the silly game the rest of world calls football. Saw some dumb UK rugby team once, all they did every chance they got was get into a giant huddle and it looked like they were trying to hump each other. Is bitting foreplay?

Pub Games... you must mean a bunch of Brits trying to throw darts before they become fall down drunk.

In defence of my friend d4n13l, he is right, at least our rugby players don't wear all that padding...and what the hell is drag racing all about....what is the point in that load of tosh ?
    Quote Quote
  14. What the hell is tiddlywinks? By football, I guess you mean soccer. Boring. Our football players have to wear pads because 6'6" 300 lb guys would kill eachother if not. Our athletes are without a doubt superior to yours, but you can have your own taste in sports. Personally, british sports seem boring as hell so I don't see why you started this arguement against our sports in the first place. I wouldn't consider drag racing a sport likkletree, I know your reaching for something, but come on!

  16. Tiddlywinks is some pointless kid's game requirng zero mental ability and zero physical skills. I played it a few times when I was 4 or 5 years old. Very simple concept. You try to flip something that looks like a very thin poker chip called a "wink" into a container about the size of a shot glass by using a second chip and pressing against the edge of the other chip to make it flip into the container. It is about as exciting and it sounds. More fun to watch paint dry.

Well done for those who spotted the deliberate mistakes in my last post - Gold Medal goes to Speedy for the link .
Tiddlywinks is indeed a very lame game by adult standards (just as US Football is - LOL).

Pub Games/Crawl - Not games such as pool or darts as you may think, but basically the sport of staying alive, ie. not dying from alcohol poisoning (Hence 'crawl'). The great British pastime of consuming vast quantities of alcohol just for the sake of it, having nothing to show for it but a pool of sick, amnesia and empty pockets at the end of the night. What a Sport!
What have those of us on the 'wrong'() side of the Atlantic got to say about Boxing? That is a great sport - which is British.
One of the worst aspects of... er, silly... US only sports (ie. The "world" series, hehe), is they are dominated by marketing and advertising. The reason why great sports such as football (US - Soccer) aren't as widely played is because the sport will not fall for the 'big sell' that has plagued US only sports. They are like watching a long advert, deny that if you can you damned Confederates... LOL.

    Jaws said:

    Jaws,
yet again the facts seem to elude you once more; I would suggest wearing a thinking cap might help next time .
By contrast, Rugby players that are the same size as US gimpball - sorry... "football" players by all standards, do not wear pads as they are not afraid of a bit of rough and tumble or more likely, a fractured skull. This is true as Rugby is played by real men, not wimps in gimpsuits and helmets. Helmets - HA! If you dont believe me then you try and take down the next 300lb 'man'/gorilla that you see running full speed with a ball in his hands with no protection but a pair of shorts and a T-Shirt. The difference between fake rugby (US - Football) and REAL Rugby will become apparent.
    LOL!

  21. I'm not really a fan of American football. Don't really see any "sport" in 300 pound gorillas running into one another and rolling around in the mud and such.

Actually the biggest spectator sport has become professional stock car racings. Not much point in that either watching cars go around and around in circles. Of course the fans secretly want to see a crash or two I suspect, but they of course won't admit that's why they really go.

You've overlooked Professional wrestling. What ever happened to the British bulldog?

Who wants to start a professional international shuffleboard league?

  22. d4n13l get your facts straight. You said the facts elude me once more. I'm going to tell you now before you continue this arguement and make yourself look silly, I am not wrong. Padding=pussy's. Wrong Padding=brains. Its no secret we have the best athletes. How can you find entertainment in a game that has no organization(besides the fact that d4n3l like the men in shorts thing). Sorry for stooping to that level, I guess its the capitalized tree coming out of me. Its just funny you think that boxing is a british sport. I am sorry but people were beating the hell out of each other in a ring long before Britain came along! You find something the Brits could beat us at and I will shut up. Wait, I take that back. Something besides ignorance. You already shown me that.

  24. To everyone who says that Michael Jordan is an egomaniac is wrong. He postponed his press conference so he didnt seem disrespectable. I also have a friend who met him through the make a wish program and he said he was the nicest person you could ever meet. He let the kids have the run of the restaurant and even though he was wearing a 15,000 dollar suit he didnt mind kids hanging off it and ruining it. He also said that Jordan was genuinely interested in what he said and even thanked him for coming all the way to meet him from Australia. Jordan also stayed back an extra hour even though his ppl told him to leave because they had to tape a nike commercial. That is why I will always support MJ.

tell that to the thousands of people making his air jordans at two cents an hour, then selling them back here for 100 dollars a pair, nike makes more than 80 fold profit on these things and mj doesnt seem to care that hes being made rich off the backs of children who get paid LESS by him, than their coutries' mean wage.
    Quote Quote
  26. Actually Nike has recently overhauled their factories and now pays more than the average wage and has regulated the working conditions. Also the conditions you talk about happen in other company factories and as for buying American made, the clothes that say that are often produced in colonies of America that pay low wages in a sweat shop style environment. Thats why they are only technically made in America. Also it is the law of economics that determine the prices not Nike. It suckers who buy the shoes thinking that they can be like Mike that force the price up and are the fools.
    Quote Quote
  27. Oh please... Michael posponed his press conference because he knew it wouldn't be the lead story on TV or newspapers or anything close because of the WTC disaster.

You confirmed he's a egomaniac yourself. Who else needs $15,000 suits? How would you know his suit cost that much, unless he mentioned it, and if he did, why would he?

I'm not denying he WAS a good basketball players perhaps the best ever, note my use of WAS. He does his bit for charity, still is he like many celebilities craving to be in the spotlight and way too full of himself. Contrast that to Bill Gates who wears $200 suits, if he bothers to wear one at all, has yet to get a decent haircut and so far as donated over a billion dollars to charties, much without fanfare or public notice and plans to give 99% of his great wealth to charity upon his death.

When Jordan dies, he'll probably have a 100 foot high tombstone.
    Quote Quote
  28. If he is such an egomaniac then why do you hear nothing of his private life. Thats because you only ever hear from him when he is playing basketball. Not like other celebs were you hear everything about them. Jordan also does lots of charity work where he gives his TIME which is more important. He also cant give billions because he doesnt have billions like Bill Gates. Also no one wants to know about Bill Gates or meet him compared to Jordan so it is better for him to give money instead of time.
    Quote Quote
  29. You only hear about him when he's playing basketball?

You must have missed him trying to break into major league baseball and was given the change not because of any talent only because he was Jordan and poor baby was getting bored with basketball and being the egomaniac he is, figued he could be a baseball super stat too.

How about the times he was on the Tonight show and other TV shows trying to peddle his line of cologne, (smell like Mike, no thanks) or his attempt to be a movie star or all the commericals he used to be in, or the restaurants?

Face it, Jordan is in love with himself.

I only used Gates as an example. Now ask yourself who has had more impact on the lives of hundreds of millions of people all over the world, somebody that runs around in shorts bouncing a ball and sticking out his tongue or someone that heads the company who's operating system is on 90%+ of PC's all over the planet?

  30. Sounds like someone got recently dumped by MJ when asking for his autograph.

Well at least you got Bill's.

Admit it your a celebrity fan.
