Hell yeah man
The game needs Mike
Ignore that loser's response. He'd rather sit on his ass and make vcds -
Is he going to play for the DC Wizards? That would be cool (stupid) but cool. It he's only going to play one season it might be a good way to get some return on his investment thou.

I'm going to love to watch Kobe run circles around jordans old legs. That's going to be fun. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!
-
Michael was a god ... now I guess ... he'll just be human. That would make it more interesting.
Kobe at least will have a chance.
Nonetheless, basketball has always been a team sport so I guess no guarantees that Mike will belong to a champion team again. And don't forget the role of the coach. Don't think he'll be having the Zen Master by his side. -
And dont forget that the NBA is allowing "Zone Defense" now... like college ball, so there might not be a whole lot of chances that Mike & Kobe..or anyone else for that matter will be matched up 1v1, unless like maybe on a fast break...but look for a lot of zone D, to conserve Mike's energy on the offensive side of the court...and yes he is playing with the Washington Wizards, contract right now is a 2 year contract, 1st year is being paid veteran league minimum, $1 mil...(nice minimum wage huh?)...$1 mil that he is indeed donating to relief efforts...so in some aspects his first year is for free....me personally, Im kinda 1/2 & 1/2 on him coming back...I dont want to see him like Magic out there, when it was obvious that it was time for him to step off the court...but it does give me a reason to at least pay attention a lil more closely to the pro game..
-
I think he will still be better than the players of today even in his older age. Everybody was saying that he couldnt do it the first time he came back but he proved them wrong. All he did was change the way he played his game to compensate for his weakness. He plays using his brain and that is as sharp as ever. I will never forget the game I saw in person where the bulls were down right up until the end where he shot a series of 3 pointers in a row to take the game into overtime then double overtime to win. I think the NBA needed him to come back also because lets face it, as good as a player that Kobe is he aint no Jordan.

I agree...but Kobe will never be MJ....just like MJ will never be Magic, Dr. J, Abdul Jabber, Bird, Pistol Pete, and the list goes on for those who were great players that change the game of basketball...to compare players of not only different eras, but those who werent in their prime at the same time, is a bit unfair....even Mike as great as he is/was...was nothing in his first 6-7 years, compared to Bird, Magic, & Isiah when it was their prime years...Mike didnt hit his prime till about 28-29 and what Kobe is only 23...so give him 5 more years then start making the comparisons, but IM sure the game will be much different then...if there is a game, given current global events.

You say these games are girly but have you had a look at soccer? The UK doesnt watch sport like baseball or basketball ( or cricket, footy, afl , anything) because they are terrible. No offence but look at the facts. What did the british olympic team end up with at the 1996 games: 0 yes thats right 0 medals -
I really really HATE Jordan, almost as much as I hate Madonna. I hope KOBE dunks on him, and permanently injures him so that he could never come back. I hope he ends up like his dad.

THIS IS TO THE LONE GUNMAN...HMMMMMM
RIGHT MATE THIS IS A LESSON ON HOW TO HAVE A GOOD ARGUMENT ....OK
NO 1. ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOUR FACTS ARE CORRECT
NO 2. HAVE TOILET ROLL READY (FOR THE SH.IT THAT COMES FROM ONE S MOUTH)
NO 3. ADMIT IT WHEN YOUR DE FEATED....
NO 4. STOP BEING A DICK

And by the way , how can you have a WORLD series in rounders er I mean baseball, when there is only one country competing, two if you count canada, ???
Its like the Boat Race over here, I'm gonna stop watching it, cos the same two teams get to the final every bloody year !!! -

FACTS? Ok lets look at the FACTS shall we? Britain won a total of 23 medals in the 1996 olympics. For proof go here:www.olympics.org.uk/1996.htm
You make maggots look intelligent!
LOL!
Also, the main sports that Americans watch are the ones that they invented, strange that. The sports are also totally dominated by the $, it is just a marketing exercise. And to say that no-one in Britain watches them is a very foolish statement: There is a lot of broadcasting time devoted to US sport, even ice-hockey. Your "sport" is probably driving down a street in a ford pickup hitting mail boxes with a baseball bat.
LOL!
There is one thing that I will say about MJ - you dont forget how to play that good. MJ is a naturally gifted player, he will always have exceptional ability. He will lose his edge due to fitness, but not forget how to play: MJ IS basketball.

lets have a vote on it....
to all brits.... do you like u.s. sport?
let us know if you like "rounders"(us baseball) or "netball(us basketball) -
I'd rather watch snail racing (Steeplchase) than sit through nine innings of rounders....
I tried to watch it once about the third inning a bloke had to come on to cut the fu-c-k--ing grass it was then I stuck needles in my eyeballs and kicked the cat....! -

It was foolish because it was a massive generalisation. Personally, I dont watch any but I used to watch a lot of basketball. If no one watched US sports then they wouldnt have hours of ice-hockey coverage on C5 (Ok, I know its C5...). We also have coverage of many other US sports, if there wasnt an audience then there wouldnt be any coverage. Its true US sports are not as watched as other sports here ie. football and rugby etc. but some people do watch it.
Oh lets not forget the other great US "sport" that is the WWF, "sports" entertainment. (Whatever that is). That has a huge following here.

I would rather have my eyes plucked out by a duck-billed platypus on speed , than watch a load of sweaty-arsed yanks try to entertain us with sh-te like something they percieve to be sport !

What the hell kind of language are you brits speaking. Didn't you dumbasses spawn the language. Just be glad its not German and shut your mouths! Maybe downsyndrome-tree probably likes polo! And please don't tell people how to argue! You guys say something and then come back and reply something like heh, he pobably screws cats. Lame guys. Hopefully when you turn eighteen you will find better things to waste your lives with.
-
I didnt think that it would be long before the flame-war started!
jaw2957, what makes you think that we would be speaking German? Remember, IF the British were speaking German at present, then YOU probably would be as well.
I bet that this post doesnt get another... 5... no make that 6 replies before it is locked.
P.S. "Those dumbasses" are decended from the same people as you are.

P.P.S. I like the bit about screwing cats.

Michael Jordan shares a lot with Jessie Jackson. Neither after the good sense to know when to leave. Both are egomaniacs. They both live to be in the public eye. Jordan was all set to announce his comeback a couple weeks ago then the WTC disaster happened. Being the media freak he is, is posponded to be sure he'd get the attention he "deserved".
Besides he is TOO DAMN OLD to play professional basketball except to make a fool of himself which I'll relish seeing him do just like when he thought he could be a major league baseball player.
Some old generals may fade away, but you'll have to carry Jordan away kicking and screaming. He don't have the sense to know when its over, its over. As far as his million dollar donation, that's nothing for him. He earns around 40 million a year on endorsements and from his investments.
To give you an idea of what an egomanic Jordan is, he had a partnership in a sports bar type restaurant in downtown Chicago, and because he was no longer playing for the Chicago Bulls, business when to hell and instead that were going to use Sammy of the Cubs who was was popular because of passing the homerun record of Babe Ruth. That so pissed of Jordan that he threanted to sue, because the name of restaurant would no longer carry his name and the over sized picture of him would come down. That's an egomaniac in anybody's book.
-
Would you happen to be the other party in that partnership?

He may have a big ego, but so does most of the NBA: It is a showmans sport that has come about through years of marketing crap. At least some kiddy charity or whatever will benfit from his $1 Million donation, regardless of what he plays like. Get one thing for sure though - you can bet that it will draw a lot of interest, be it good or bad, to the game. He knows that more people will watch the game for the sole reason that he is MJ, he will milk a fortune out of it and he knows it. As to his performance, I doubt it will be that poor, just not the MJ that was. At least he is not as old as some boxers that make "comebacks". Eg. Herbie Hide getting what little sense he had knocked out of him by a "token" guy and having any dream of a comeback fade away.

Hit some nerves didn't I brits? Its ok, the truth is hard to take guys, but then it IS the truth. jaw is my initials, but good try tree. Almost funny! I do hate to admit it, but we are decendents from you(I still don't understand how we can speak your language better BLOKES). Just to put my 2 cents in about the topic, Jordan is good for the game anyway you slice it. Its good for charity also. We'll have to wait and see if he's still got it. It would be a hard thing to swallow if he doesn't, but it will be the TRUTH.
