  1. An interesting poll to see if Princos suck in general, or if it tends to be drive-specific.

Margin-of-Error: 'Sucks' means more than >2% error rate. 'Works' means <2% error rate.

I think if you survey us Aussies you will find that princo's fails more often than not, possibly because we all bought the ones that fell off the back of a truck(Cheap but very Nasty)

Regardless of whether they burn OK or not, wait till you try to play them in a month or so and they don't work.

Quite simply put - DO NOT buy Princo's unless you'd like to keep your movies or games for 7 days or less.

There are multiple threads discussing their lack of duration.

WOW, your limiting yourself to a select few dvd burners here

I have Toshiba SD-R5002 and have burned over 100 of princo disks
Not a one has errored, and after a year they still play and can be "re-backedup"

    just posting my info
but, , I cant post my vote.

  10. galactica,

What speed Princo's are you burning, 1x, 2x, or 4x?

I too have burned hundreds of Princo's and they are VERY good disks! Princo DID bring some real crap out on the market when they first started making DVD's but that was long ago, and the quality now is VERY good. I have had only 1 burning error on any Princo disks, and it was the VERY 1st one I tried.

My drive is 2x max. They burn both at 1x and 2x. Only had one "coaster" and thats just because the power actually went out in my house while I was burning the DVD. Did not have a UPS at the time so that one was a coaster.

  12. there's only 1 problem with Princo that I had, which is that LiteOn 165H won't read it, and same goes to my Toshiba laptop DVD-drive (a very old model). But it doesn't matter because the 165H is way too loud for me and the LG I got instead behaves a whole lot better (quieter, reads everything that I throw in).

  13. Burned about 25 2x princos in my 105 without a glitch. They work just as well as the ritek G03s for me.

  14. I have bought a total of 200 princo 1x dvd-r's. I have burnt 130 of them at 2X. About 20 messups was due to my fault. About 5-8 of them had stutters at the end (you could see "holes" in the dye). All in all, I am very happy with my princo's.

The last 100 that I bought has a weird "windex smear" on the bottom of them (they are the ones that have the princo label on them). I suspect that that happened when the spindle opened up during delivery. When I opened the box, the DVD-r's were part in and part out of the spindle, aka humidity.

With burning them, however, haven't really had any issues.

It would be higher I think, if the author adds more drive options
since my drive is not listed, but I use them no problem.

I've played Princo discs about three months after they were burned, without any problems. Hopefully this thread will help prove that Princo media is better than previously thought . Or at least that some people, with Pioneer burners have had consistently good results with it.

  18. Galactica...

    Your option was added.

It's starting to look like whatever problems were had with Princo seem to be solved. Of course, the folks having problems could be due to user error

  21. I've burned at 300 Princo's on my Cendyne (Pioneer) DVR-105, and really haven't had any failures. I'm a little bummed that the last batch I ordered are no longer "white tops", but have labels on them now, but they're so CHEAP! Always under $0.80 for 1x discs.

When did you order them? Where from?
I just ordered a batch of 50 and got them in yesterday from Meritline and mine were white topped.

(I actually like the wite tops)

  23. I have the Cendyne DVR-105 as well. The princo 1X -r burned fine. The problem is, any movie over 4 GB would start stuttering and skipping and finally quit towards the end. If the movie was under 4 GB it worked fine.
(The same result on a Pioneer, Toshiba, Panasonic and Memorex DVD standalone). The princo 1X dvd-rw all worked without a glitch. After the original 25 spindle of princo 1X dvd-r I purchased (over half the movies would freeze), I have gone through some 250 of the Lead Data from PCClub..the only failures (3) were from me trying different burning techniques.

I personally, will stay far away from Princo (no matter what the price).

(these were silver top 1x -r and white top 1x -rw)

Some of the first Princos (early 2002, late 2001) still play fine, even the heavy-used ones.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

    I can vouch for that.

I have several. Both data and DVD. One data dvd has a date on it in my handwriting as Feb 12th 2002.
nothing wrong with them. I can play them, back them up etc.
Not having any problems with them so far....

  27. I have the Sony 500 external drive and use Princo media somewhat successfully. The only thing that happens is the 4x media defaults and only writes at 2x.
