I was trying Mainconcept to convert a pal svcd to a ntsc svcd. Everything was great until I went to do the vcd header trick because my dvd can't play svcd's. After I did the trick and watched it on my tv, the audio was out of sync all of a sudden. The file that I did the trick on played fine in media player. Is it possible for the vcd header trick to throw audio/video out of sync? I've never heard of such a thing.

Did the encoded mpeg still play in sync before applying the header trick? Chances are the loss of sync is due to something you missed converting from PAL to NTSC, and not the header trick.
Impossible to see the future is. The Dark Side clouds everything...
