  1. I bought this mp3 player a while back (years) and recently with a new desktop machine meant reinstalling the software (for transferring the mp3 files to the compact flash reader). well, i lost my serial number so reinstalling the software was out of the question. so i tryed copying mp3 files in "my computer" to the compact falsh drive but what i found out was that in order to deter use without the software (the only reasoning that i can think of is if someone had stolen the mp3 player) the mp3 player only plays .MPX files. thus, i needed that included sofwatre to convert my mp3 files to MPX format so that the mp3 (rather, MPX) player will work.

Does anyone know of any software that will do this conversion for me?

  2. OK, this may not be the response you were looking for, but...

Have you considered just emailing their tech support and explaining what happened? Since you say that the player is "years" old, maybe I should assume that the company is no longer in business?

    WAIT, OK, HOW BOUT THIS?

Took a second to do a google search and came up with this:

    http://www.borgtech.org/mpx/

Looks like a free download, but I've never used it...Feel like trying it out?

  3. I did email their tech support, but you know how that can be. It's been about a good year since I did that... still no response.

I tried that mpx program and it wants an avi file as input file to make an mpx file. Now i have to find something that will take my mp3 file and make it into an avi file...
