Hey all, so I've had the burner for about a month (primary decision to buy one was to put grandpa's 80th birthday on DVD-R for the relatives and I was interested anyway). So I've been lurking here for a while now and decided to give backups a try. On a lark, I pulled out my copy of Nemesis (having no idea what to expect) and burned to 2 DVD-Rs using DVDXCopy. Well, it worked out good for the most part but I noticed that two of the documentaries don't play on either one. Presumably because I separated the files that made up the documentary and now part of each is on each disk (I'm asking not telling . . . I don't know)? No big thing since this was a test anyway. But . . . what about when I do want to get serious about backing up my movies? DVDXCopy omits the special features by default so I just started putting files on disk 1/2 according to how much space was left. That is the problem I imagine. Is there a way I can preview the files first to see what I'm putting on each disk? Thanks for any help.

There's a program called "DVD2AVI" - look in the tools section or Google it. This allows you save a DVD as an AVI file. But it also allows you to preview the VOB files as well. This may be what you are looking for.
Just run the program and select the VOB files you want to preview.
There's probably other tools out there but this is the first one that comes to mind.
Good Luck.
