  1. When you download any of the new full-screen quicktime trailer's they have a still picture above and below the playing video, and because of this I have been unable to extract the video that is playing between the still pictures.

I've tried just dropping it into Vegas 4, but only the still frame and sound show up, not the video (same thing happens in VDub). When I right click on the file in Vegas and select Properties and try changing the video from "Still 1" to "Video" it still won't work.

I can't export from quicktime because i am a "Future Pro Key" user, meaning I have a key in my registry that says I am a quicktime 7 pro user, and my attempts to register with a quicktime 6 pro key do not work.

The only option I have left is the TMPGEnc add-on, but i will probably still have the same problem with the still frame.

For an example, you can try the Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers trailer: http://progressive.stream.aol.com/newline/gl/newline/lordoftherings/TheTwoTowers-tlr_fs.zip

If you have any success please reply, thanks! I'm trying to turn it into a divx file then edit and use it for my menu's intro.

and btw -- set source range to 0- 11493 to avoid the last pic which is encoded in there

set tmpgenc to progressive and 1:1 source and output to 24fps and 1:1

  4. Where is the option to cut out the top and bottom frames in tmpgenc?

When saving you File>Output to File>AVI file, right? I didn't see huffyuv as one of the saving formats. In addition, wouldn't no compression provide better results?

uncompressed results in a huge file (you would have to install huffyuv as an additional codec) , you could use DV , divx also ..

  7. well, i plan on going from divx to mpeg-2 for dvd.
which leads me to my next problem, what am I doing to do about the 24fps to get it to work on a dvd-player.

also, the sound is out of sync.

dont compress to divx then to mpeg2 - at least if you want to mantain some quality ..

as the for the 24fps ... you encode it at 24fps and apply puldown to the mpeg file ...

  9. The reason I was going to go to divx first is because i wanted to edit it in VDub (I wanted to add a logo). But maybe I could do that with premiere while it is still a quicktime movie.

I'm still having a problem with the audio out of sync. Eventually I'm going to convert the audio into AC3, but does it really matter if I put as 41 or 48 khz in tmpgenc. I don't think that is the problem anyway. Any idea?
