  1. Hello,

I would like some advice on the best settings to use with CCE Basic, as the guide merely explains them, without saying what is to be preferred in different situations.

In the "AVI decoding" of the "Options" tab:

    *Try decoding in YUV format

*Try decoding in 32-bit RGB format

Which of these should be checked, for best results when encoding an interlaced NTSC AVI video?

Also, for DVD-compliant NTSC MPEG-2, what values should I use for M and N/M?

    Lastly, what packet size?

Any and all advice welcome, as always.

    Thanks,

    Tom.

None of those settings will really impact what you're doing. You should leave them both enabled, as they can directly affect the speed of the encoder.

The defaults are fine for standard encodes (M=3/NM=5). Packet size should be 2048. Again, do not change these, because doing so could net you a disc that won't play ( we call them coasters ). They will not affect your playback quality in any meaningful way.
