  1. My computer is a little weird..
a few weeks ago I could play a videoclip in WMP, no problems at all.
But last week, I can only hear the sound not see the picture.

When I look in "AVIcodec" to see if I'm missing any codec, it says "WMV 3=Windows Media 9, unsupported"

So, is there any codec I can download, or do I need to upgrade my WMP? I have version 7.1

Well, if WMP works fine on your system, it is now up to version nine. You definitely need its codec. So either reload 7.1 or upgrade.

You haven't by any chance installed some nice "codec pack" like Nimo??? This sounds like what I experienced after installing Nimo 8 (before I knew better...)

Anyway, to answer the why it used to work question. Sometimes files get corrupt in Windows. Maybe all you need is to re-install that one codec. You may not have to upgrade. If that doesn't work and you like your current version, I would suggest just re-installing that version. It is still avaiable for download...

How to see what codec's installed on W98, I've no idea. Been a long time since I ever laid my eyes on that one... If you installed some codec pack, or even an individual codec, there ought to be some "remove" option under "add/remove program". Never install a codec "blind" - use GSpot to tell which codec's needed for a particular AVI, then install what it tells you you're lacking.
And even if we're both Swedes, please stick to English!

I'll try to uninstall and reinstall some, not all, see if it works..

worst case, reformat my computer... again.. *sigh*

    sorry for answering in swedish..

@tommyknocker: I doubt Hoshi knows swedish, she's to preoccupied with Klingon adn all other languages around the universe
