Motion Menu Authoring in DVD Workshop

Hello, I am not a newbie; however I have a newbie question. I downloaded the trail version of dvd workshop and am having a difficult time with 2 things.

1: Most of the time the "insert chapter" button on the right of the preview window is greyed out. There was one time when i was able to add new chapters to the large real on the right, but I don't know why the insert chapter button is greyed out?

2: I can't create motion menus. I have searched online with no luck. Do you create them in the menu step or edit step? Is there a big difference between the trial version and the retail version?

1. It sounds like you are using already-encoded MPEG-2 files as your source video. In this case, you can only place chapter points on I-frames (complete frames). The "Locae I-frame" option, right below the "Insert Chapter" button is useful here.

2. You create motion menus in the "Menu" step.

To create a motion background, select the "Menu" proprties tab in the top, left section, then drag your background video source from the "Library Manager" onto your menu.

To create a motion button, select the "Button" proprties tab, and then drag your motion button video source from the "Library Manager" onto your menu.

I don't think they are all that great, but they do get you started.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Do you know if there is much of a difference between the trial version and the retail version?

I used the trial briefly. I think the biggest difference you'll notice is that the duration of motion menus is limited to a maximum of five seconds in the trial. In the full version, there is no limit.

Also, I think the trial is based on version 1.2, so you lose all of the features added in 1.3 (enumerated here: http://www.ulead.com/tech/dws/dws_ftp.htm)
