  1. I've checked many of the old posts but didn't what I was looking for:

someone gave me an SVHS tape to put on DVD but my JVC active video calibration VHS is only that - VHS, not SVHS.

I'm capturing w/ my advc100 which will be 720x480 into an AVI stream.

What I'm wondering is should I both to try to find/get an SVHS deck or if I capture w/ my VHS deck will the results be similar? The tape was a professionally shot wedding video from 8 years ago.

I have seen that vhs is around 200-220 lines vs. SVHS around 400, so the difference is very significant. I'm wondering whether anyone's compared to see how that difference looks when viewing the tape on DVD (all else being equal).

    Any comments would be appreciated!

  2. you can get a svhs deck from jvc or panasonic
less than 150 bucks depending where you at,
got a panasonic, used to "drill" hole in bottom
of vhs case to make the recorder think it was
a 10 dollar tape even though it wasnt, when i
tried to play in a regular vhs deck. colors go
kinda crazy, seen these at circuit city for less
than 100$ but not for a long time now for jvc...
