    Well, the topic pretty much explains my question. Also, is there any difference between avi and divx...Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm a complete noob. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

    an avi is a wrapper .. a divx can be an avi but there are also about 50 other types of avi -- most of which are compressed - some are not ..
