Whenever I create a movie using 1 pass VBR, TMPG DVD Author reports that the max bitrate of 9800 kb has been exceeded. I set the bitrate in CCE to 4000 min and 7000 max. Does anyone know what is causing the bitrate to be 9800 kb?

Do you have the DVD compliant option checked? If so, uncheck it. This tags the stream as having a nominal (max) bitrate of 9.8mbits regardless of how high the bitrate actually peaks. This shouldn't cause problems, but apparantly it does on lower end dvd authoring software. My guess is that it is misreading this information and adding it to the audio bitrate, thus making it appear that the total bitrate exceeds the max allowable of 9.8mbits.

adam, yeah i did have the DVD compliant box checked. The DVDs that i created when TMPG DVD Author gave me a warning seem to play fine. Thanks Adam for the nfo.
