The procedure I use is DVDLAB svcd to DVD.
http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/tutorial/svcd.html -
so to be able to create a dvd to play on all dvd players you dont need to have it in the form of IFO,BUP & VOB files ?? you can have it as a mpeg and it will work ?
-
DVDlab authors the svcd mpeg to vob, ifo.
Some more methods

so is this guide ok for me to create the dvhttps://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/159399.phpds to play on all players
-
No, most of those guides explains how to make dvd-svcd(not reconverting the video). If you want it to play on all players you must reconvert the video with an encoder.
-
how come wen i open the file browser on dvd lab it wont let me select my avesq01.mpg it only says (dvdproject) ???
-
this is more hassle then i think lol.............
thinks where to start encodig and how
-
Make sure you are selecting the broswer in the Asset box not the main Box. Look at bottom left. Or simply right click in the Asset window and import.

yes i have tmpgenc but do not know how to use encoding bit....i also have problems wen merging to files together with tmpgenc, reason being it puts my audio out of sync wen i went bak to check the files before merged they are perfect so im assuming its tmpgenc and at the minute im looking for another mpeg merger

If you don't already have the mpeg2 plugin for TMPG get it from the tools section. It will allow you to load your mpg files directly into TMPG. Then choose one of the standard DVD templates, PAL or NTSC. TMPG will make a compliant DVD ready to be authored. You don't have to make any changes in the settings except for motion etimate. Change it to "high quality, slow."
-
you got a guide on that so i know what im doing? also all i wana do is change my svcd to dvd just so i can watch on any dvd player
-
Use the guide here;https://www.videohelp.com/tmpgencdvd.htm. When you get to the part where you load your source file, choose the aveseq01.mpg file. Remember to get the mpeg2 plugin for tmpg and install it as per the instructions. If you have any problems you can work around it using dvd2avi. Let us know how you make out.

thnx for posting the guide, but now i av come across another problem with the mpeg2 plugin
i downloaded it and went to extract the files and this message come up ( The Archive contains files with long filenames, but you are usuingan external archiver that does not support long file names. Therefore, some of the operations involving external programs may not work on this archieve ) any ideas what this means and how i can get around it?
-
Do you have winrar installed on your system? It should open the file with no problem.
-
even when i do open it with winrar this message comes up ( archive name shortened to C:\DOCUME~1\JOE\DESKTOP\M2V_VF~1.LHZ to work with an external utility that does not support long names. Then i press ok and get the message which i posted previous to this one
