Streambox VCR wont work! Please help

I am trying to use Streambox VCR to capture full length RM movies.

When I start a download, ther are two files. One does not download. I'm assuming this is the audio file since none of the downloads have audio.

The other file refuses to complete. Most of the files are 150-200MB. Most files get up to about 40mb before freezing . One actually completed and a few others got all but the last few minutes of the movie. But most stop at around 40.

I started one last night. It is on attempt number 1189 and has been running for over 13 hours.

WTF! I am desperate for answers. Any of you experts out there have any idea how to fix this?

Hi,

I've come across this myself.

Let me guess, one file's URL is prefixed with "rtsp:" and the other is prefixed "pnm:". The "rtsp:" one downloads and the "pnm:" one doesn't.

It's specifiying a transmission protocol. It's just the same as specifying "http" and the front of web addresses or "ftp" for ftp servers. "rtsp" and "pnm" are just different protocols designed for streaming media.

It's quite common for RealMedia metafiles to contain two links for the same file using these two different streaming protocols. One will download and the other can be ignored.

Your downloaded file should contain both video and audio streams. You can remove the one that doesn't download from the download list.

I have tried to locate this real7ime program and all I get are broken links and or Chinese sites. When I try to install the language pack I am asked for the Windows 200 CD. But I can't find it! I've looked everywhere

Do you know where I can find this from an American/English site?

Also, what I dopn't understand is why Streambox will only download part of these movie files?

Ah! I've just had a brainwave. I think what you need is a special version/patch for Streambox VCR by "Flying Raichu". If you can find it, I suspect it may solve your "download halt" problem.

The sites where you can dl real7ime may be in Cninese, but the program's still in English. You don't need to install the language packs to visit one of these sites, and it's pretty easy to figure out what links are dl links.
