  1. Im not sure why this is happening, as I've been converting DV files to DivX with VDub for quite a while now, but all of a sudden it decided to not work.

I load up my Type 2 DV file into VDubMod, goto Compression->DivX 5.0.5 Codec, all that stuff.... then when I click on Save As, I get:

    "Cannot Start Video Compression:

The source image format is not acceptable.
    (error code -2)"

Ive done this before successfully, and I cant figure out what, If anything, has changed. Any ideas?

check the resolution of your input. DivX requires the vertical resolution to be a multiple of 4, and the horizontal to be a multiple of 8 or 16 (I can never remember which). You could always ensure it's a multiple of 16 if in doubt, which would cover either 4,8, and 16. Search the DivX site to be sure. You might also peek to ensure nothing is wrong with your DV codec. Open the file with AVICodec, or GSpot and ensure the codec is installed, and registered properly. You'll find both in the TOOLS section.

  3. Youre right, I have cropped the video and absentmindedly forgotten to check that it was a multiple... thanks alot.

It's an odd requirement that wasn't necessary in MPEG-2. The price you pay for advancement I supose.
