I was wondering whether VCD's support the use of the "Arrow keys" aka DVD style. If it is the case, then could I build a menu with a series of stills with the current selected item played when the OK button or Play button is pressed and other items can be selected by moving up or down or left or right. This approach would be a bit more user friendly than using the numeric keys.

Settops--NO!
Software players--possibly, although this might only work if HOTSPOTS are worked into the design.
