  1. what is ms-mpeg v3 i downloaded a movie from the net and when i tryed to play it said invalid format. Which i thought was weird as i have codecs to run all my other avi movies. Can anyone recommaned a good codec for it.

  4. The decompressor is included in the Media player 7, though it's locked so you can't encode with it, media player should automatically download the codec.

  5. if the file is an avi file encoded with ms mpeg-4 v3, then it won't play unless u have the hacked codecs which let you use the codec for avi files. this applies to both encoding and decoding, although some of the older microsoft codecs will still decode it. microsoft soon disabled this though.

    i can't get the newer codecs to play them. the auto-download can't find an appropriate decompressor.
