At first it might sound like I'm posting this in the wrong forum but stick with me here. I'm converting an XviD to SVCD. I'm having no problem (I think) doing this, but the end result doesn't play properly in my SONY DVP-NS415 DVD player which *does* support both CD-RW and SVCD playing.

Specifically, the picture is perfect but the sound stumbles and plays too slow ultimately becoming very out of sync with the video. The effect is as if the processor in the SONY player isn't quick enough to process both the video and audio streams simultaneously and the audio stream has drawn the short straw.

As a test I did the same SVCD conversion of an ASF file and that one played perfectly which leads me to think there is something special about the XviD file I'm trying to convert.

In conclusion I have tested playing the resultant SVCD MPEG file directly in PowerDVD on the computer and it plays fine with no hint of the problem that happens when I play it in the DVD player.

Has *anyone* ever come across this kind of problem before and/or know how to fix it? Please help. I'm desperate. I've been at this for 3 weeks now trying all sorts of different things without luck.
